Dear Lord Awaken We

Our youth are truly our responsibility and as the ancient African adage goes, "It takes a village to raise a child." The term "our" is important terminology to

express when servicing youth, for cohesive thinking promotes unity. As a collective we as mentors, teachers and role models must lead by example for "actions speak louder than

words." If the village truly raises a child then the tools used to sculpt the child must be used with accuracy, precision and grace as this workmanship serves as the

foundation of the mentality "building" for the child. Growing up as a child I can remember so many different voices trying to guide my actions however observing my

mother keenly eventually lead to my modeling her behavior. Many children are taught to "do as we say!" I firmly believe it is time for us to teach them to "do as we

do", in hope that our practicing what we preach will be heard in their souls.

Although we are accountable for our children, "we must be human, simply human." Along with being human comes the reality that we are not perfect, and we all make mistakes. In the midst of our high expectations for today's youth we must remember that this same notion applies to them. We must allow them to make mistakes without "swift" correction and negative judgment on our part. It is this individuality that shall eventually foster their growth and development as the future leaders of our world today.

"No man is an island." The wounded leg may need a crutch to help support it until it properly heals just as the child must learn the value in balancing crawling before they can walk. If we shall acknowledge ourselves as being part of mankind, then we must strive to nurture the art of being "kind to man."

AMEN

OPEN HEARTED LETTER

Forever beautiful is the sun within my heart that you have set

its warmth is vibrantly soothing as it poises my soul to speak freely

without fear, hesitation nor any feelings of regret.

You are a woman, Mother Nature to whom man is forever in debt

I love the strength in which you build me and shield me

as you yield me from many of life's threats.

From my heart to yours, forever am I grateful of you

Admirably I observe the will power of your grace and respect your sense of friendship

easily you reach me for I am not one to shy away as you teach me

Humbly I oblige to be your soulful apprentice.

Your beauty tickles my heart in a gentle manner yet relentless

so if I do not comply with your standards then please exhibit your forgiveness

and know that our combined efforts bring forth balance

and my loyalty towards you can not die young for cupids arrow pierced it with love endless.

From my heart to yours, forever am I grateful of you

I know you can feel my heart stroking your heart with the firmest of touches

so carefully, this entrancing pallet of yours, my inner spirit clutches

as my undying love canvas your mind with God blessing the very paint found on my brushes.

Allow me to be your comforter as I honorably make adjustments, to unlock your hearts desires...

From my heart to yours, forever am I grateful of you

I love you deeply and will always support you sincerely

with the utmost of respect I yearn to feel the honesty of

your smile so close near me....

Please know these vows I sow are extended by cherubs

as I pray your spirit can hear me clearly

for if ever given the opportunity please note that honorably I shall carry....

these vows which I have expressed

through love, prayer and eyes joyfully teary!

From my heart to yours, forever am I grateful of you
